angela groombridgeAngela obtained a studio a studio in the Mivart buildings several years ago. In an explosion of creative energy, she produced a series of abstract paintings in acrylics and watercolours. These explored her ideas and feelings about pathways, routes and mapping...both in the material world and in the metaphysical. She then moved away from painting towards working in plaster relief and found objects, exploring the theme of things that are buried. Concurrently she became interested in using text in her work as a hitherto unexplored means of communicating her ideas. As the speed of technological change snowballed, angela became interested in the effect that mobile phones, specifically, text messaging, has had on our interactions with others and in the way we view and present ourselves, She has created several pieces primarily in metal ,that relate to these ideas. Her 'Text Book' exhibit in last years open studios was inspired by these ideas and explores the boundary between the public and the private. Angela also teaches part- time and will be contributing to forthcoming programme of workshops to be held at the studios. 0117 9541259 |
