mivart street open studio 07A weekend long celebration of art and creativity at Mivart Street Open Studios took place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October 2007. More than thirty artists, makers and performers invited visitors into their studios to see new work where it is created. This year’s event included open studios, a café, arts & crafts shop, live music, workshops and performances. This year’s programme also included: The Preview: Friday 5 October 7pm-10pm VJ Mindpaw - Digital artist and film maker working with fluid configurations of people, place and technology to investigate the interplay of mind, myth and screen. 7.30pm: The Wraith - Odes by Dickinson, Wilde and Hardy, all set to slow-burn acoustic soundtracks that grow assuredly from placid to menacing. 9pm: Slipper - A mixture of tightly structured and improvised jazz, funk, punk, rock from one of Bristol’s most original boundary-pushing five piece bands Artists’ Workshops Saturday 5 October 3:00 – 5:00pm: Lantern making with Victoria Appleton Sturday 5 Ocotber 12:30-2:30pm: Tile Painting Workshop Sunday 12:30 - 2:30pm: Printing workshop with Rebecca Lines Sunday 3:00 - 5:00pm: Building a habitat for a favorite toy with Angela Groombridge. NB For children four to nine years old - children must be accompanied by a guardian. Film & Music Collaboration Artist, Mel Shearsmith and musicians heartheart collaborate in a series of responses to each other with film and improvised music to create two live events over the Mivart Open Studio’s weekend.
