kate fraserKate Fraser’s paintings focus on the structures and spaces of urban and industrial environments. Power stations, coal silos, asphalt plants and wind farms are set in desolate landscapes, uninhabited by people almost as if they have been abandoned. A recurring theme is energy production, both the ‘traditional’ forms of coal and gas and the newer use of wind power. Pervading the work is the sense of both man’s ingenuity and impact on the natural environment and his fragility in that environment. |
